Keynote speaker at Women In Investment Awards 2018
"I first met Jo at a celebratory evening for women in Finance in London. I had been nominated for an industry award, and the night was to be a celebration of all women leading change, breaking down barriers and creating new possibilities for equal representation in the world of Finance. She was the keynote speaker and I loved her immediately. Witty, quirky, clever and funny, Jo does not take herself too seriously, yet she has achieved so much and is an inspiration and role model to so many. In short, she is my kind of person :-). I introduced myself, bought her book and read it a few weeks later in one go, I could not put it down. In her written words I recognised the woman I saw in London, her strength, her passion, her understanding of her self-worth as something more than a job title or money, and her never giving up. In her book, Jo talks about how people could never tell whether she was straight, gay or something in between. And this was for me the best bit of the book (amongst so many good ones!). The time I learnt I did not need to belong, rather I just needed to be myself, is imprinted in my mind as my 'coming of age' time. Jo, her can do attitude, ability to achieve her dreams and her fearlessness in sticking to who she is.'
